Is the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus (5G )Worth Buying in 2026? Full Review

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 15 Pro plus has been one of the best-selling smartphone series for many years. And rightly so, as you get a lot for a low price. I tested the new Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus and compared it to its Samsung competition.

While top-of-the-line smartphones costing over $1,000(approximately ₹90,000) receive a lot of coverage, mid-range smartphones are often ignored in reporting. As I’m recommend, Samsung’s Galaxy A series and Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series are among the best-selling smartphones . Xiaomi has now unveiled new models for 2026.

Once again, Xiaomi is launching a whole range of new smartphones, making it difficult for customers to choose the right model. However, the differences between them are quite small. The Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus is the best model in this range. The Note 15 Pro (without the Plus) offers slightly lower performance, slower charging, and a slightly worse front camera. Otherwise, the two smartphones are almost identical.

Note 15 Pro Plus Design and Display
Only one visual difference is immediately apparent. While the cheaper model has a flat display, the Plus model’s display has slightly curved edges on all four sides. However, these aren’t as curved as previous curved displays, so it didn’t bother me at all during use.

The display itself is quite impressive, featuring AMOLED technology, rich colors, and true blacks. Additionally, with a resolution slightly higher than the usual Full HD, the picture looks incredibly sharp. The brightness of slightly over 1,000 nits is more than sufficient for daily use.

Turning the smartphone over, the back looks a bit unusual, at least if you choose the Mocha Brown color. Here, Xiaomi has used leather-look plastic. This variant feels quite good in the hand and is perfect for those who prefer to use their smartphone without a case. The other two colors, Black and Glacier Blue, come with normal matte plastic.

Redmi note 15 pro plus Performance and Software
The processor in this device is perfectly adequate for everyday tasks and provides enough power for some light gaming. However, the system exhibits quite a few stutters. This is somewhat unusual for Xiaomi, even in this price range. Since I tested the smartphone before its market launch, it’s possible an update will be released before launch.

Speaking of updates, Xiaomi is currently delivering the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus with Android 15 and its HyperOS 2 interface. The latest version update should be available in a few months. HyperOS is visually quite attractive and offers many additional features and animations that enhance the user experience. However, the smartphone comes with a lot of pre-installed apps (bloatware), and system apps display ads. While a large number of pre-installed apps is normal in this price range and they can be removed with a few clicks, the advertising in system apps is quite confusing, especially for inexperienced users, which makes this smartphone unsuitable for this target group.

On the other hand, the built-in speakers surprised me. They are located on the top and bottom of the frame and provide proper stereo sound when held in landscape mode. The volume is also quite loud, and they can be used as a speaker while showering or cooking.

Redmi note 15 pro plus Battery Life and Capacity
In testing, it achieved a runtime of around 18 hours, which is about 3 hours more than the Samsung competition. Charging is also quite fast, from 0 to 100% in about an hour. Although with 100 watts, we were expecting slightly faster charging. This is only possible if you use the original Xiaomi Hyper Charge charger, which is unfortunately not included in the phone box.

Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus Camera Review
The Redmi Note 15 Pro comes with two cameras on the back. The main camera is 200 megapixels, which allows for taking lower-resolution zoom photos via “sensor cropping,” thus acting as a kind of “telephoto camera lite.” It performs quite well up to 4x zoom in daylight. At night, you should limit yourself to a maximum of 2x zoom. The secondary camera is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. Its resolution is a bit low, but it’s sufficient for snapshots in good lighting. Photos taken with the front side camera are quite sharp and impressive with detail-rich. The camera is also quite impressive in night photography, which wasn’t typical in this price range a few years ago. Overall, the camera delivers solid performance for the price, as can be seen in the sample photos.

During testing, the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus impressed with its high-quality build and excellent in-hand feel. The built-in hardware also performed very well in testing. The display is razor-sharp, and the camera and battery life are perfectly suitable for daily use. As always with Xiaomi, there are some weaknesses in the software. Late updates and excessive advertising in the system slightly detract from the otherwise excellent impression of this smartphone.
